Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles and Hyundai will discontinue the most models for the 2017 model year with FCA paring back its car offerings and Hyundai launching the Genesis luxury brand. General Motors is discontinuing its Impala CNG fleet model.

FCA models that will end with the 2016 model year include the Chrysler 200, Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Dart, Dodge Viper, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Patriot. FCA's Chrysler Pacifica minivan replaces the Town & Country, and the company plans to use manufacturing bandwidth from the departed cars to produce more Jeep SUVs. The 2017 Compass will replace the two discontinued compact Jeep SUVs.

Hyundai will no longer produce the Equus, Genesis sedan, and Genesis coupe. With the launch of the Genesis brand, the Equus will be replaced by the G90, while the Genesis will be replaced by the G80.

Toyota is discontinuing two vehicles as well as the Scion brand. The Venza mid-size SUV and FJ Cruiser will sunset, and Toyota is rebranding the Scion FR-S as the 86 sports car.

Other discontinued vehicles include the Buick Verano, Cadillac ELR, Honda CR-Z, Lincoln MKS sedan, Mini Paceman, Rolls-Royce Phantom, and Volkswagen CC.
