Chevrolet introduced its 2017 Bolt EV in California and Oregon, and will begin shipping it to dealers in other states starting in February. It will arrive in 50 states by September, according to General Motors.

Chevrolet delivered 579 Bolt EVs in December, and expects to deliver 1,200 in January.

"In an effort to ensure that we're meeting demand where demand is strongest and to make sure our dealers are ready to service and sell the Bolt EV, we are following this deliberate rollout schedule, which in part looks at past Chevy electric vehicles sales as well as market demand, dealer readiness, as well as mindset or interest in electric vehicles," said Fred Ligouri, a Chevrolet spokesperson.

In February, Chevrolet will deliver Bolt EVs to dealers in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. In March, it will add New York and New Jersey. In April, Bolt EVs will arrive in Washington. May deliveries will add Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Colorado.

In July, Chevrolet will deliver Bolt EVs to Illinois, Florida, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. In August, Texas dealers will receive the vehicle. Chevrolet will deliver the vehicle to the remaining 31 states in September.

Of the 3,100 General Motors dealers, 2,000 will eventually sell the Bolt EV, and 1,200 will be set up to service the vehicle.
