Volvo Cars is recalling 5,529 2017-model year XC90, S90 and V90 Cross Country vehicles because their inflatable curtain air bags might malfunction, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The bolts that secure the inflatable curtain air bags in place may break, which could prevent these air bags from deploying properly during a crash, NHTSA said. As a result, the vehicles don’t comply with all federal safety standards.
Volvo dealers will inspect and replace the bolts, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 1.
Vehicle owners can reach Volvo customer service at (800) 458-1552. Volvo’s number for this recall is R89714.
