Honda's manufacturing arm is investing $85 million in its Lincoln, Ala. facility to improve flexibility, efficiency, and readiness for future technologies, Honda has announced.
The investment will come through Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, which builds the Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, and Acura MDX. Honda will expand a building on the south end of Line 1 for vehicle assembly operations. Construction of the first phase of the work should be completed in 2018.
The $2.2 billion plant also builds the V-6 engines that power the four vehicles. The facility employs more than 4,500 associates at its current 3.7-million-square-foot facility with the capacity to produce 340,000 vehicles and engines each year.
With this project, HMA's total capital investment since 2011 exceeds $750 million, including the addition of more than 450 associates.
