BMW of North America is recalling 97 2017- and 2018-model year M760Li xDrive sedans because the engine oil cooler lines may loosen and cause an oil leak in the engine compartment, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This condition can ultimately diminish braking performance.
“The leaking engine oil may get onto the front brake disks, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA warned on its website.
BMW dealers will inspect the engine oil cooler lines and replace them if needed. There will be no charge for this service.
The recall is expected to begin June 1. Vehicle owners can reach BMW customer service at (800) 525-7417.
