Ford's 2018 Explorer will arrive with several updates, including upgraded style, technology improvements and additional options such as a 4G modem with standard Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system.
Ford announced the updates at the New York International Auto Show.
Ford is positioning itself to grow SUV sales and expects utility vehicles to make up more than 45% of non-luxury automotive sales in the next five to seven years. Ford plans to introduce five new SUVs by 2020, including the 2018 EcoSport and 2020 Bronco.
The 2018 Explorer will also offer the optional Safe and Smart package that includes adaptive cruise control and collision warning with braking support, blind spot information, a cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing wipers.
