Daimler Vans USA is recalling 305 2016-model year Mercedes-Benz Metris vans because the front-seat seat belt pretensioners might malfunction during a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“If the front seat seatbelt pretensioners do not function properly, the seat occupants may not be adequately restrained in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury,” NHTSA said on its website.
To fix the problem, Daimler Van dealers will replace the front seat belts. There will be no charge for this service. The recall is expected to begin in June.
Van owners can reach Daimler Vans customer service at (877) 762-8267.
