Hyundai has started selling its gasoline-electric hybrid and battery electric 2017 Ioniq models.

The hybrid is currently available across the U.S. as it’s distributed to all regions nationally.

The electric model is currently only available in California due to high early launch demand in the state. It’s available through direct purchase, but most deliveries will be through Hyundai’s Ioniq Unlimited+ subscription-based program. A monthly fee covers all costs of ownership, including the costs of charging the vehicle, unlimited mileage, scheduled maintenance, registration, and other purchase fees.

“We are currently rolling out the hybrid and electric models, with availability of those models increasing,” said Derek Joyce, Hyundai’s manager of product public relations. “As Ioniq hybrid production ramps up, we will have increased dealer stock throughout the U.S. market.”

The plug-in hybrid Ioniq model will go on sale in the fourth quarter this year. Sales for the plug-in hybrid will be focused initially in California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont, with availability in other states by Hyundai dealer special order.
