2018 Ford Expedition Rated at 20 MPG

Ford's 2018 Expedition has achieved an EPA fuel economy rating of 20 mpg combined, making it the first large SUV to reach that level.

The rear-wheel Expedition has also been rated to achieve 24 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg in city driving, while the four-wheel-drive model achieves 19 mpg combined, 22 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg in the city.

The competing rear-wheel Chevrolet Suburban has achieved a rating of 19 mpg combined, 23 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg in the city.

Ford reduced the weight of the vehicle by about 300 pounds in a redesign that included a shift to an aluminum alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame. Ford is pairing a more powerful turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
