In Memoriam: Former Cadillac Manager Gambrell

William Gambrell, a longtime Cadillac manager who worked in the fleet division of the General Motors luxury brand, died on Oct. 9 at his Dearborn, Mich. home. He was 74.

Gambrell began his 33-year career with Cadillac in 1965. He had graduated from Western High School in Detroit and served for three years in the Air Force.

Gambrell worked in administrative roles for about six years, and then became a staff manager at GM's Clark Street Assembly plant in Detroit. He worked in the personnel department until roughly 1984. For the remainder of the decade, he worked as a line foreman in the paint department of the plant.

In 1992, he moved to Cadillac's fleet, commercial, and livery division that supported sales for the coachbuilder's and limousine program and black car business. He retired from that role in 1998.

Gambrell is survived by daughter Denise Podczervinski, son-in-law Dane Podczervinski, son Rory Gambrell, and five grandchildren.
