Unilever has committed to converting its entire fleet to be battery-electric or hybrid-electric by 2030, part of the organizations drive to encourage commitment on electric transport.

Unilever’s commitment was driven through its joining of  the The Climate Group’s EV100 initative, according to a release from Unilever. The Climate Group is an international non-profit that address clean technologies and policies.

“We have a fleet of approximately 13,300 company cars. For the immediate future, our aim is to ensure that hybrid vehicles – those that combine traditional fuel and electric power – as well as fully electric cars, are made available to Unilever company car drivers,” Unilever announced in a release.

Unilever is one of the founding members of the EV100 initiative, which also includes Baidu, Deutsche Post DHL Group, Heathrow Airport, HP Inc, IKEA Group, LeasePlan, METRO AG, PG&E and Vattenfall.

“The EV100 initiative is the only one of its kind to encourage global business commitments on electric transport, with members swapping their large diesel and petrol fleets to electric, hybrid or fuel cell vehicles, and installing electric battery charging infrastructure,” according to Unilever.

Unilever is aiming for its fleets to be 25% electrified by 2020, and 50% by 2025.
