Mobileye and NavInfo announced a partnership to build and distribute Mobileye’s Road Experience Management (REM) in China. The collaboration is intended to develop Mobileye’s REM technology to generate a RoadBook in China that is integrated and aligned with NavInfo’s mapping solutions.
Mobileye’s REM system is designed to enable autonomous vehicles to accurately localize themselves. By crowdsourcing anonymous data packets collected from vehicles with front-facing cameras, the partnership is developing a RoadBook of drivable paths, including lane boundaries and stationary landmarks used as reference points. The collaboration seeks to provide a low-cost solution to challenges facing autonomous vehicles, such as precision localization and mapping.
NavInfo's map products will provide the RoadBook with navigational or geographic information. NavInfo software and other technology can also support alignment of the RoadBook.
