Hino Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. is recalling an estimated 45 2018 to 2019 NE8J, NJ8J and NV8J trucks because the screw lock nuts that secure the engine's valve train may not have been properly tightened during manufacturing, and could potentially loosen within the engine and damage it.
A damaged engine could shut down, increasing the risk of a crash.
To fix the problem, Hino will notify owners. Dealers will inspect the torque on the valve train adjustment screw lock nuts. In the case of missing bolts, the engine will be replaced at no cost to owners.
The recall begins on April 9. Truck owners can reach Hino customer service at (248) 699-9390. Hino’s reference number for this recall is AA9Q0.
