Shell’s Starship concept tractor-trailer completes cross-country test run

The Starship averaged nearly 9 mpg in its cross-country efficiency test. However, say Shell reps, mpg doesn't tell the whole story. Instead, Shell focused on so-called freight-ton efficiency, which measures the amount of fuel it takes to move freight from one location to another.
