FedEx pays $35.5M to settle claims of illegal cigarette trafficking

FedEx has agreed to pay more than $35 million to settle allegations brought by the state of New York that it illegally hauled untaxed cigarettes into the state over a 10-year period. The company added that it has issued “repeated requests” to New York City and the state of New York to identify shippers of the untaxed cigarettes, but neither has provided information.
