Tell us about the history of Yamko Truck Lines
Yamko Truck Lines was first incorporated in February of 1964 as Yamashiro-Nako Enterprsies, Inc., which was a compilation of the founder’s last names. As time passed and business increased, the corporation changed its name to Robert Nako Enterprises, Inc., DBA Yamko Truck Lines in 1968. Robert passed the baton on to his youngest daughter, Debbie, in 1993 while he went into semi-retirement. Debbie became the President of the company in 1995 and in 1996 Robert passed away leaving the business to Debbie. Debbie continued running the business eventually moving its operations to a four-acre piece of property in Long Beach, CA where they still reside today. Debbie Nako continued to run the company until her untimely death from cancer in June of 2003. At that point, Frank Gomez, who had worked for Yamko for several years, took over the daily operations of running the company. Frank eventually became the President of the company in 2008. He was then charged by Robert’s widow, Sarah Nako, to train and groom her granddaughter Shannon Fetters, who will eventually take over the company. Today Yamko Truck Lines has 50 trucks operating within the business.
