American Honda Motor Co. is recalling 19,502 Acura MDX (2WD and AWD) SUVs and RLX luxury sedans in the 2014 and 2015 model years, so dealers can update the collision mitigation braking system software, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
The recall includes Acura RLX Hybrid vehicles in the 2014 model year.
The collision mitigation braking system is at risk for incorrectly interpreting certain roadside objects, such as metal fences or guardrails, as road obstacles. As a result, the system might unexpectedly apply the brakes, NHTSA said.
There will be no charge for the software update.
Vehicle owners can reach Acura customer service at (800) 382-2238. Honda's numbers for this recall is JQ4, JQ5 and JQ6.
