Subaru of America, Inc. has announced package and pricing details for its updated StarLink connected-vehicle platform that provides hands-free connectivity, entertainment, and safety services.
For 2016 models, Subaru has also integrated the touch-screen audio and navigation systems with StarLink, which is powered by Sirius XM Connected Vehicle Services and uses AT&T's 4G LTE network. Subaru is offering two StarLink packages, including Safety Plus and Safety Plus & Security Plus.
The Safety Plus package includes automatic collision notification, SOS emergency assistance, enhanced roadside assistance, maintenance notifications, monthly vehicle health report and diagnostic alerts. Subaru customers receive a one-year subscription with the purchase of a new vehicle. After the first year, a two-year subscription costs $99.
The Safety Plus & Security Plus package adds stolen vehicle recovery, vehicle security alarm notification, remote lock/unlock, remote horn and lights and remote vehicle locator. For the first year, Safety Plus & Security Plus Package can be added for $49. A two-year subscription costs $149 and includes the cost of the Safety Plus subscription.
StarLink can deliver live traffic alerts through SiriusXM Traffic and travel information through SiriusXM Travel Link. Subaru pairs StarLink with either a 6.2- or 7-inch in-dash display. The optional 7-inch display features multi-gesture touch controls.
Later in the model year, Subaru customers will be able to access remote services via a website and mobile app, which will be available free for iOS and Android compatible devices. The app will provide access to remote services, user preferences, diagnostic alerts and other features.
