Nissan is recalling 14,595 2014 model-year Versa Sedan, 2013-2014 Cube and 2013-2014 Juke vehicles because of potential stalling linked to their engine start/stop buttons, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
In hot temperatures, the engine start/stop button in these cars may stick inside the button housing. During this condition, road vibrations may cause the engine to shut off unexpectedly while the vehicle is being driven, NHTSA said. This poses a crash risk.
The Versa Sedans were manufactured from July 16, 2013, to Jan. 29, 2014. The Cube cars were manufactured July 3-Oct. 21 in 2013. The Juke vehicles were manufactured from July 3-Oct. 22 in 2013.
Nissan dealers will modify the start/stop switch housing, free of charge, to correct the problem. The recall is expected to begin by late August. Vehicle owners can reach Nissan customer service at (800) 647-7261.
