Volkswagen will offer its entry-level e-Golf SE battery-electric vehicle for the 2016 model-year with a starting price of $29,815 (including $820 destination charge), the automaker announced.

The e-Golf SE will be $45 lower in price than the 2015 Nissan LEAF S, which starts at $29,860, according to VW.

The vehicle will include most of the features of the e-Golf SEL Premium, Volkswagen said. A 3.6-kilowatt onboard charger will be standard, and an 7.2 kW DC Fast Charging Package will be optional.

The SE and SEL Premium will be sold in 10 U.S. states in the Northeast and Pacific Coast, and most are likely to be sold in California, according to a company spokesperson. The e-Golf Limited, priced about $2,000 lower than the SEL Premium, is being discontinued.

The e-Golf has an EPA-rated all-electric range of 83 miles.
