Dubai's transport authority has revealed plans to add more than 3,200 new taxis to its fleet over the next five years. The board of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has endorsed the plan of Dubai Taxi which will see 3,268 new cabs on the road from 2016-2020, according to a report by arabianbusiness.com.
They will raise the total number of taxis in operation from 9,497 vehicles in 2015 to 12,765 vehicles by 2020, an increase of about 34 percent, according to the report.
The five-year plan sets out the planned increase of vehicles to the fleet as follows - 880 vehicles in 2016, 552 vehicles in 2017, 580 vehicles in 2018, 612 vehicles in 2019, and 644 vehicles in 2020, according to the report.
