American Honda Motor Co. is recalling 25,367 Honda Fit LX-trim vehicles in the 2015 and 2016 model years because the side curtain air bags might be punctured during deployment.
The puncture risk is tied to defective rear grab handle brackets in these cars, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The recall covers cars manufactured from April 11, 2014, to July 2 of this year. These vehicles aren’t equipped with a sunroof.
Honda dealers will replace rear grab handle brackets, free of charge, to resolve the problem. The recall is expected to begin Dec. 4.
Vehicle owners can reach Honda customer service at (888) 234-2138. Honda’s number for this recall is JV8.
