Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 126,260 2008-2009 model-year C300 Sedan, C300 4Matic, C63 AMG, and C350 vehicles, and 2010 GLK350 and GLK350 4Matic vehicles, because the air bag control unit might malfunction.
Because of a manufacturing error, the air bag control unit may corrode and eventually malfunction, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. As a result, the air bags might deploy unexpectedly when they’re not needed – or fail to deploy during a crash.
Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect the air bag control unit and replace it, as necessary, free of charge. Vehicle owners can reach MBUSA customer service at (800) 367-6372.
