General Motors' fleet sales unit mobilized seven of its fleet clients on leap day as part of a "pay it forward" campaign to raise funds for local charities.

The campaign, which carried the hashtag #DayItForward, raised charitable donations for local charities. Members of GM Fleet visited with fleet representatives on Feb. 29 at seven different events.

Donations came from Eli Lily and Co., Mary Kay, Cablevision, Student Transportation, Sanofi Pasteur, Pacific Gas & Electric Co., and Element Fleet Management to respective groups including the United Way of Central Indiana, The Mary Kay Foundation, The Lustgarten Foundation, Student Transportation of American Education Foundation, Children's Health Fund, United Way, and United Way of Central Maryland & Greater Twin Cities United Way.

The General Motors Fleet team also donated $5,000 each to Focus: Hope in Detroit and Leaps & Bounds Family Services in Warren, Mich.

As part of Chevrolet’s #DayItForward campaign, Andrew Hager, fleet account executive for General Motors Fleet, presented a check to Jennifer Cook, director of The Mary Kay Foundation, and Anne Crews, who sits on the board of directors for The Mary Kay Foundation. The money will go toward addressing domestic violence prevention and fund research of cancers affecting women.

United Way of Central Indiana received a check on behalf of Eli Lilly and Company as part of Chevrolet’s #DayItForward campaign. The event was attended by Lv Turner, fleet account executive, General Motors Fleet; Susan Keenehan, regional director of the North Central Region, General Motors Fleet; Angela Dabney, senior vice president, United Way of Central Indiana; Robert Ethan Braden, Lilly marketing director; and James Harenberg, Lilly sales director.

At PG&E, David Meisel, senior director of transportation and aviation services visited with Jeff Tomlin, fleet account executive, General Motors Fleet.

"We are proud to partner with General Motors to help ensure the United Way can continue its work to provide opportunity and hope for all Bay Area residents," said Dave Meisel.
