Gasoline Prices Rise to $1.84 Per Gallon

The national average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline increased 5.8 cents to $1.841 for the week ending March 7, according to federal records.

The national average is now 64.6 cents lower than a year ago, and increased in nine regions during the week. The sharpest increase came in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions, where the price moved 9.3 cents and 8.2 cents higher to $1.815 and $1.784 respectively.

Among states, five now have gasoline that costs at least $2. Hawaii's $2.536 leads the nation, followed by California's $2.454. Arizona now has the cheapest gasoline average at $1.547.

Meanwhile, the average price of diesel increased 3.2 cents to $2.021 per gallon. Diesel fuel is now 9.23 cents higher than it was a year ago.
