Pre-2015 Nissan LEAFs Need Telematics Upgrade

The Nissan LEAF is losing AT&T’s 2G network, which means owners for certain models of the vehicle will have to purchase an update to keep its NissanConnectEV functionality.

The NissanConnectEV is a telematics system that runs on AT&T’s 2G cellular network, which will be discontinued at the end of the year. The system has features that include being able to remotely control climate control monitoring and charging, reports Autoblog.com

The Nissan LEAF will require a new telematics unit upgrade to continue access to the NissanConnectEV. Nissan will contact the owners of the vehicles once the parts are available, according to the company.

The automaker will cover the costs for the upgrade for 2015 Nissan Leaf owners, but it will only cover a portion of the costs for 2011-2014 models.
