Voting for Overdrive’s Most Beautiful, a recognition program that highlights the accomplishments and inner and outer beauty of female drivers, begins today. Vote here.
Readers may select one contestant per vote, and may vote once daily through April 6.
The group of 70-plus nominees will be pared down to a top 10, selected through a combination of the online voting and editorial guidance. A first-place winner will be selected to represent Overdrive at The Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas, in August. She receives a hair and makeup session and is then photographed with a Pride & Polish show truck. She will be featured online and in an issue of Overdrive this fall.
Last year’s winner, Joanne Fatta of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has worked into a respected position as a company driver and driver trainer with Sunrise Transport, which named her Driver of the Year 2013. Fatta says being able to play a small part in redefining the truck driver image, through coverage in trucking and mainstream media, is one reason she’s so honored to have won Overdrive’s Most Beautiful contest.
Independent owner-operator and 2013 winner Maggie Stone crowned Overdrive’s Most Beautiful 2014 winner Emily Ann Weymouth of Charlton, Massachusetts, at GATS in August 2014.
“A person’s soul is what dictates beauty, and what they do for other people,” Stone said. “It’s an honor to be chosen to represent so many beautiful women in such a great industry.”
