The national average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell 1.4 cents to $2.069 for the week ending April 11, according to federal records.

The slight decline reversed a month-long series of price increases that brought the national average price back above $2. The price is 33.9 cents lower than a year ago.

Among the regions, price movement showed a mixed picture with three regions (Rocky Mountain, Central Atlantic, and New England) increasing, while five regions declined. The Gulf Coast and Midwest saw the biggest declines. Gulf Coast gasoline fell 34 cents to $1.835, while Midwest fuel fell 23 cents to $1.965.

Among states, 29 and the District of Columbia now have gasoline prices of at least $2 per gallon. California's $2.772 remains the highest, and Missouri's $1.804 is the lowest.

Meanwhile, the average price of diesel fell 1.3 cents to $2.128 per gallon. Diesel is now 62.6 cents lower than it was a year ago.
