Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will receive up to C$85.8 million ($66.7 million) in grant funding from the Ontario, Canada, government to invest in the Windsor Assembly Plant that's building the Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne announced the funding at a June 15 press conference. FCA will use the funds for employee training and upgrades for the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan at the plant. About C$16.8 million will be used for research at FCA's Automobile Research and Development Centre (ARDC) that opened in 1996.

The ARDC employs 180 people at its Windsor facility near the plant. At the facility, workers perform testing including road test simulation, extreme weather testing, corrosion control and precision night-time headlight testing.
