Ford Motor Co. is issuing a safety compliance recall for 5,280 2016 model-year Ford F-150 and 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles in the U.S. because their driver seat backs may have been improperly welded, the automaker said.
As a result of the welding defect, the driver seat back may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury, Ford said in a released statement.
Ford noted, however, it isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue. Dealers will inspect and replace, if needed, the driver seat backrest frame at no cost to the customer.
Additionally, 1,199 vehicles in Canada and 132 in Mexico will be recalled for the same issue.
