Porsche will launch the second generation of the Panamera in 2017 with the release of the Panamera, Turbo, and 4S models.
As the centerpiece of the update, Porsche will feature redesigned engines. The Turbo and 4s models are equipped with new twin-turbo gasoline engines with direct fuel injection, the automaker has announced.
The Turbo is powered by a 4.0L V-8 engine that makes 550 hp and 567 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 4S features a 2.9L V-6 engine that makes 440 hp and 405 lb.-ft. torque. The Turbo and the 4S will also be equipped with with standard all-wheel drive and a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The new models also offer a new electromechanical power steering system that can be optionally supplemented with systems such as adaptive air suspension.
The Panamera models also feature rear axle steering and improved braking performance. An optional Mode Switch can be used to activate one of four driving modes.
The models also offer the Porsche Advanced Cockpit, which replaces classic buttons and conventional instruments with touch-sensitive panels and individually configurable displays.
The vehicles should reach U.S. dealers in January. Pricing for the Panamera 4S starts at $99,900, while the Panamera Turbo starts at $146,900, not including the $1,050 delivery, processing and handling fee.
