Volkswagen will invest $11.3 million to build a parts distribution center and training center in California as part of an initiative to invest more than $7 billion in North American operations through 2019, the automaker announced.

The Pacific Northwest Parts Distribution Center, which cost $6.8 million, opened in Rocklin on June 14. The company will also invest $4.5 million to open a new training center in Eastvale just outside of Los Angeles.

The parts center is Volkswagen's seventh of its kind and the second in California. It joins a similar facility in Los Angeles.

The training center will house Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche training of technical, collision repair, and sales training. It's expected to open in the first quarter of 2017.
