GM Recalls Malibu Hybrid for Stalling

General Motors is recalling 534 2016 model-year Malibu Hybrid sedans because they’re at risk for stalling, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The cars at issue were manufactured from Oct. 27, 2015, to June 3, 2016. They each have a high-voltage battery shut-off switch for use when servicing the vehicle. This manual service disconnect switch may not be properly installed and may not lock into position. As a result, the switch may unexpectedly disconnect the high-voltage power while driving, effectively stalling the vehicle, according to NHTSA.

GM dealers will inspect the manual service disconnect switch and correct the installation, as necessary, free of charge.

Vehicle owners can reach Chevrolet customer service at (800) 222-1020. GM’s number for this recall is 51230.
