Ford Motor Co. is issuing a safety compliance recall for 111 2017-model year Ford Edge SUVs in North America because of missing windshield header welds, the automaker said.

The vehicles involved may have been built with missing welds in the windshield header portion of the body sheet metal. Dealers will repair the windshield headers at no cost to the customer, Ford said.

“Vehicles with an improperly welded windshield header may have reduced lateral structural integrity, potentially increasing the risk of injury in a side-impact crash,” Ford said in a released statement.

Ford pointed out, however, that the company isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

Of the vehicles involved, 84 are in the U.S., 26 are in Canada and one is in Mexico. The Ford reference number for this recall is 17C05.
