Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 4,926 2010- and 2011-model year XJ sedans so dealers can update the restraint control module software to ensure the default air bag calibration settings are correct, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
If the default air bag calibration settings are incorrect, the air bags may not deploy properly during a crash, NHTSA said.
Dealers will update the restraint control module with the latest software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on Aug. 18.
Vehicle owners can reach Jaguar customer service at (800) 452-4827. Jaguar’s number for this recall is H034.
