Toyota is recalling 1,761 2017-model year Lexus ES 350 luxury vehicles because the right-hand side tie rod lock nut may loosen over time and lead to steering loss, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
“If the lock nut loosens, the tie rod may separate causing a loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA warned on its website.
Lexus dealers will inspect the lock nut to see if it’s loose. If needed, the lock nut, steering gear assembly and tie rod assembly will be replaced. There will be no charge for this repair.
Vehicle owners can reach Lexus customer service at (800) 331-4331. Toyota's code for this recall is HLC.
