Southeast Toyota Distributors (SET) is recalling 3,547 2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles, each equipped with an accessory hood scoop installed by SET or SET dealers, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
The adhesive attaching the hood scoop may weaken, allowing it to detach from the vehicle and create a road hazard, NHTSA said.
SET, a subsidiary of JM Family Enterprises, is the world’s largest independent distributor of Toyota vehicles.
To fix the hood scoop problem, SET dealers will mechanically fasten the scoop to the hood. There will be no charge for this service. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 28.
Vehicle owners can reach SET customer service at (954) 429-2000. SET's code for this recall is SET17B.
