CALIFORNIA MOTOR VEHICLE AND DIESEL FUELS TAX INCREASES
EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2017
California Senate Bill (SB) 1 (Stats. 2017, Ch 5), The Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, increases the excise tax rates on motor vehicle fuel and diesel fuel as outlined below effective November 1, 2017.
- Effective November 1, 2017, Gasoline motor fuel tax will increase from 29.7 cents per gallon to 41.7 cents per gallon.
- Effective November 1, 2017, Diesel motor fuel tax will increase from 16 cents per gallon to 36 cents per gallon.
- Effective November 1, 2017, prepaid sales tax on Diesel will increase from 18 cents per gallon to 25 cents per gallon.
- Effective November 1, 2017, sales and use tax on Diesel will increase from 9.00% to 13.00%.
