GM’s sales in China rose 6.6% to 366,305 units in September compared to the same time in 2016, and were driven by strong SUV sales for its Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and Baojun brands.

Buick was responsible for a majority of units sold for GM in China with 114,500, which boasted a 5.7% year-over-year growth. Sales for the nameplate were supported by the Excelle GT compact sedan, and the Envision, which sold approximately 20,000 units in September, according to GM.

The year-over-year growth was also bolstered by the automaker’s Baojun nameplate, which sold 94,718 units, a 51% year-over-year improvement. Baojun’s success was driven by crossover SUV sales, according to the automaker. Indeed, Baojun sold almost 40,000 models of its 510 in September.

Meanwhile, Cadillac sales in September were at 17,248, which jumped 38% from a year ago, and were driven heavily by sales of the Cadillac XT5, according to the automaker. Also, Chevrolet saw an 11.2% year-over-year growth, supported by the sale of 57,757 units, which was bolstered by sales of the 2018 Equinox, with over 6,000 units sold in September.

Year to date, sales GM units between the months of January and September are up 1.1% this year against the same period in 2016, according to the automaker.
