Infiniti will begin electrifying its vehicle lineup by 2021, and will also launch its first fully electric vehicle that year.
Nissan's luxury brand expects electrified vehicles to make up more than half of its global sales by 2025, according to the automaker. It will offer a mix of pure electric vehicles (EVs) and e-Power vehicles, the company announced.
Infiniti's e-Power technology is a range-extended hybrid system that features a small gasoline engine which charges a high-output battery, eliminating the need for an external charging source and providing the convenience of refueling with gasoline, the automaker said.
Infiniti will maintain its internal-combustion engines for the time being, according to Wards Auto.
