VIDEO: How Audi Safety Code Works
In an effort to curb web browsing while driving, Audi has written computer code that can prompt a website to block access whenever a visitor is traveling over 12.4 mph.
Audi Safety Code analyzes GPS data to determine when website visitors are traveling in vehicles. Such users are locked out until they verify that they’re passengers and not drivers, according to a report from Adweek.
Audi is making the code available to any website. The German automaker is working with Swedish advertising agency Åkestam Holst on the safety campaign.
A driver can lie, of course, but the prompt still serves as a reminder of the dangers of distracted driving.
