Gasoline Floating Near $2 Per Gallon

The national average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell 3.5 cents to $2.059 to a nearly six-year low for the week ending Nov. 30, according to federal records.

Gasoline is now 71.9 cents lower than it was a year ago, and it declined again in eight of the nine regions tracked by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The price increased only in the New England regions, where it inched up two-tenths of a cent to $2.15. The sharpest decline came in the Midwest, where the price fell 5.8 cents to $1.877. Gasoline is also below $2 in the Gulf Coast ($1.824).

Among states, gasoline costs more thn $2.50 per gallon only in Hawaii ($2.815), California ($2.697), and Nevada ($2.525). Gasoline costs less than $2 per gallon in 22 states with Michigan the cheapest at $1.806, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

Meanwhile, diesel prices fell 2.4 cents to $2.421. Dieel is now $1.184 less than it was a year ago.
