President Donald Trump has nominated Heidi King to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration more than a year after taking office. King has been serving as the interim head of the nation's top road safety agency.
King, a former health and safety risk executive at GE Capital, has been serving as deputy administrator since September.
Prior to coming to Washington, King has alse serves as the chief economist for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce from 2011 to 2013. She worked as a regulatory policy analyst in the White House's Office of Management and Budget under former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
King's nomination will need to be approved by the U.S. Senate.
