New rule to cut truck emissions, implement fuel economy minimums moves to White House

The standards will begin taking effect for trailers in 2018. Tractor requirements take effect in 2021. The plan goes through 2027, when the entire vehicle ­­– engine, truck and trailer – will be required to meet the standards.
