Honda Redesigns Accord, Accord Hybrid for 2018

Honda is redesigning its Accord mid-size sedan, and hybrid variant, for 2018 by adding a 10-speed transmission and reworking the exterior design with a sportback-style rear roof and reworked front end.

The 2018 Accord adds 2.16 inches to its wheelbase and 0.39 inch to its width. The sedan shortens overall length by 0.39 inch and lowers height by 0.59 inch. The 2018 Accord increases interior volume by 2.5 cubic feet and adds 2 inches of rear leg room, which was enabled by the longer wheelbase. Trunk space increases by 1 cubic foot. The exterior design improves aerodynamics, according to Honda.

Honda will offer its 2018 Accord with three power trains, including 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines, as well as the Accord Hybrid powered by a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with a two-motor system.

Honda is pairing its new 10-speed transmission with the 2.0-liter engine that makes 252 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. Buyers can also add an optional six-speed manual transmission. Honda is pairing the 1.5-liter engine with a CVT (continuously variable transmission).

Honda will build the Accord Hybrid in Marysville, Ohio.
